River feeder
River feeder
River feeder 14ft / 180g. The rod was designed for fishing on large rivers with a powerful stream. On such rivers, we usually don't fish very far, but I still made it so that it would be able to work with heavy feeder weights of 150 grams of medium capacity + feed at a comfortable distance of 60 - 70 meters.
The rod was designed for fishing on large rivers with a powerful stream. On such rivers, we usually don't fish very far, but I still made it so that it would be able to work with heavy feeder weights of 150 grams of medium capacity + feed at a comfortable distance of 60 - 70 meters. A slight overload on the casting weight is possible when casting to shorter distances. Also, this rod is capable of working with 80-90 grams feeders + feed at a distance of over 90 meters. Often, owners of this rod use it for flat feeder fishing – the Preston L size feeder weighing 80 grams easily flies to over 120 meters distances using a 0.25 mm main line.
This is a very thin, elegant rod for its length and test, whereas we would expect extra-heavy class feeders to look bulkier.
For the balance of the tackle and comfortable work with heavy weights, I made a handle of sufficient length on this rod – 480 mm, with a rear grip diameter of 27 mm. Realizing that the rod will mainly be used with large big pit reels, I have equipped it with a reliable 17-size Fuji TVS screw down reel seat that securely locks the reel foot. The butt ring is 30 mm in size for good braid and line flow and to prevent rod wobbling when winding in the braid. All quivertips are fitted with 5 mm guides to work with thick braids and lines, and for large shock leader knots.
